The Flower Mound Police Department reported a 3 percent drop in the town’s crime rate from last year. The decrease follows a 12 percent drop between 2007-08.
The department attributes the decrease to a variety of factors, such as the purchase of more technologically-advanced equipment, the implementation of the Citizen Volunteer Patrol program and the addition of more police officers.
The town also released a report indicating a drop in response time. Priority I calls, which are calls for critical incidents in progress, decreased by an average of 12 seconds (4 minutes, 20 seconds to 4:08). Priority II calls, which are calls for incidents that have not yet occurred, such as a domestic violence call where there has been no violence, decreased by an average of 15 seconds (5:02 to 4:47).
